York is located a few hours north of London by train and is full of many attractions and also has the biggest Gothic medieval cathedral north of the Alps. It is a city lost in time, and full of so many historical and cultural gems, and is enclosed by stone walls from the 13th century. It is located at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Foss, and was founded by the Romans in 71 A.D. Because York is located on the River Ouse and is half way between London and Edinburgh means that it has long been an integral part of the nation’s transit system. In the 19th century, York became an important hub of the railway network and a main manufacturing center for the country. Students interested in studying at an English school in York will love this ancient town with its distinct climates, excellent transportation, and beautiful cathedrals and sites. Students will also find many activities to do in the city while they study English courses in York; they can head to the Theatre Royal, the York Minster (the second largest cathedral in northern Europe), or walk through the narrow Snickelways, the narrow pedestrian walkways that used to lead to the old marketplaces and butcher shops. Students will find that around every corner there are great restaurants, pubs, cafes and a great deal of history to enjoy.
A Home Language International immersion course means you live the language you are learning and is the fastest, most natural way to learn.
You are staying in your teacher’s home, have one-to-one language lessons and continue to use and practise your language skills sharing the daily life of your teacher’s family during meals, conversations, visits and activities as they all take place in the language you are studying.
It is the most effective way to make rapid progress: you live with your teacher who will give you private language lessons and correct you at all times spent with them. It completely immerses you in the language you are learning as you put into practice what you have learnt during your lessons through social interactions and meal time with your host.
