TLC offers the largest provider of language courses in the centre of Newcastle and is perfect for anyone interested in learning a new language, brushing up on forgotten skills or just keeping up and developing their proficiency. We offer courses from beginners to very advanced students, taught by experienced native speakers or teachers who have spent part of their lives in one of the countries where the language is spoken.
We believe that communication should be at the heart of learning so our classes focus on speaking, understanding, pronunciation and cultural awareness. However, syntax, grammar, reading, and writing are just as important and will be integrated into the coursework. As quality is paramount for TLC, our programs are based on the European Language Framework for European and non-European languages – these benchmarks are recognized worldwide. We run programs throughout the year, even in the summer. Our main program is based on a three-term cycle (parts 1, 2 and 3 as advertised) but you can start any time you wish.
Arabic, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish are amongst the languages we offer. More languages will be introduced if the demand is sufficient. Our ESOL courses focus on communication and will prepare you for life in the UK and for external examinations. They are run by native speakers, professional teachers of English. We also offer a Training Programme for Primary School Teachers who will start to teach languages as part of the new curriculum.
