"Very good"

Yuka Ota, student from Japan

I liked the classes but I was expecting to develop my conversation skills more.
I also liked the staff.
The classes had too many Japanese students but I cannot blame the school for that.
The extra activities were good but could be better. For example: Sea world, paradise country.
My host family was wonderful.

Thank you for your comments, and my apologies for not replying sooner. April is the Japanese Spring holidays, so naturally there will be a predominance of students from japan, but we appreciate your understanding and acceptance of the situation. We are very proud of our homestay family network, and always appreciate comments such as yours.

Kind regards,

"Overall positive"

Giovanni Domesi

The school had two classes for children. Overall, I did a lot of talking but very little of grammar. There were also too many exits out of school for activities which were not strictly related to teaching English.

Thank you for the feedback. We are always conscious of the need to balance study with activity, especially for young students. When activity is part of the classroom lesson, we do try to structure it so that it contains a learning experience. Having said that, we cannot get it right all the time, and we are sorry if your experience with us was not totally satisfactory. I have passed your comments on to our Director of Studies so that we may be aware of them when structuring future curricula.

As a general comment, please note that due to covid the circumstances of many of our regular homestay families have changed. Consequently, it has become more challenging to find good families. There is great demand for homestay families at the moment, so it is a matter of first come first served.

Students can choose to be placed with one of our homestay families, who will drive the student to school each day and pick them up after school if required. Families are located within an average of 20 minutes driving time by car from our school.

All families offer a caring and welcoming place in which students may learn about Australian culture and way of life, and practise their English. We try as best as possible to match each student with the most suitable homestay, according to the student's needs.

All homestay families are interviewed and their homes inspected, and all homestay family members over 18 years of age must hold blue cards (police clearance checks). Many of our homestay families have been accepting international students for 10 or more years, and are very experienced.

Our homestay families accept international students from 6 years of age. All students are given full details of their homestay families before they come to Australia, and the students and their parents are able to contact the homestay families direct before arriving in Australia.

Questions and answers

Have questions? Get answers from Australian International College of Language: Gold Coast staff, Language International student advisors, and past students.

Ask a question

"Where is the course delivered?"

Maureen Houlahan, student from Australia

Our course is delivered at the Australia Vietnam School of English
in Ho Chi Minh City, which is owned and operated by
an Australian, and which is a fully registered English language school in
Vietnam.

Was this helpful? Yes
Garth Keppie, Australian International College of Language school representative (Director & Co-Principal)

All our courses are delivered on the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia, apart from our TESOL course which is delivered in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Was this helpful? Yes

"In terms of this course, is it solely based in Ho Chi Minh city? Is there no course that this student could take in Australia itself ?"

Dyan Test, student from USA

The course is registered in Australia, but we have decided at this stage to
only deliver it in Vietnam through the Australia Vietnam School of English.
We have enquiries before to offer the course in Australia, but the numbers
have never been enough to run the course. This is because we refuse to
discount our fees to compete with other providers in Australia. So, to
answer your question at this stage we are not running the course in
Australia.

Was this helpful? Yes

"Can an Austalian student take TESOL course in Vietnam?"

Dyan Test, student from USA

In fact we get quite a few Australians doing the course in Vietnam, especially those who are perhaps looking for a change of life, or have retired and want to stay active, or even those who have lost their jobs and want to retrain.

"1. The students are ages 14, 12 and 10 years old, but I see that the program is only for ages 6 - 12 years old. Can you make an exception and accept the 14 year old student? 2. Can you confirm that this program runs year round and not just in the summer? They want to study for 10 weeks."

1. This is not correct. Our Young Learner course is from 6-12 years however we offer courses for all ages from 6 years through to adults, parents and grandparents. The 14 year old would probably be best suited to our High School Preparation course which is the same price as the Young Learner course.
2. Yes our YL course and HSP course runs all year.

"This is a family. Two children (one is 9, the other one is 13) and their parents. Two children may take the Junior course and their parents may take general course. Could it be arranged if they want to live together?"

IRIS LAM, student from China

Yes, we could arrange for the whole family to live together in the same homestay family if they are studying at AICOL.

Was this helpful? Yes

"1. Can you let me know if it would be possible to obtain dependentvisa for her daughter? What would be necessary requirements? 2. Her daughter is 5 years old at the moment. Can she start the English for Young Learners course even though she is yet to turn 6? 3. Can you provide assistance for them with renting an apartment? Alternatively, would it be possible for them to book homestay accommodation"

Елена Пашкова, student from Russia

1. Students can study for up to 12 weeks on a tourist visa.
2. This depends on the date of birth, the maturity of the child and whether the mother will also study at our school? Once I know the birth date I can give you more information.
3. Regarding accommodation, perhaps the most convenient would be Rays Resort which is only three blocks away. Huntington apartments are very close to Australia Fair shopping centre. Another apartment block within walking distance is Palmerson Towers and a bit further away is Aqualine Apartments.

Yes, the student can stay in homestay an extra night for a fee.

"Do you accept students 15 years of age?"

Dyan Test, student from USA
Garth Keppie, Australian International College of Language school representative (Director & Co-Principal)

I regret to say that I have only received notice of your question., Yes, we accept students 15 years of age. In fact we accept students from as young as 6 years of age, both on tourist and on student visas.

Was this helpful? Yes

Unfortunately we are not able to accept a 15 year old student. The minimum age required is 16.
