"It was a fantastic experience with lots of useful things I have learned and great immersion technique."

Kateryna Bidulia, student from Ukraine

Good day! Overall I had nice experience staying in Ireland and learning at Atlas language school, the location of the school near the river was very favourable and picturesque. The classes I attended were held in the evening with all the materials and a course book provided, the course itself was pretty challenging but that is what I anticipated. I would like to express my gratitude to the teacher who was leading the course. She always had nice explanations in stock and tailored her teaching language when explaining things in Irish English and moreover she had a good feeling of the speed at which the group could go. I did several tests during the course which also helped me to see where I really am with my studies and progress.
I had to find an accomodation on my own which caused some difficulties but I managed.
Overall I would rate my experience quite highly.

"Enriching and very well organized experience!"

Hélène Zunic Meyer, student from France

Interesting courses adapted to my level thanks to the written and oral pre-tests.
A little writing and a lot of speaking, sometimes with a textbook.
Afternoon courses in small groups also allow you to progress and even learn typical Irish expressions!
Attentive and interesting teachers, who vary the course materials.
Enriching interactions with other students and teachers.
Adapted course duration (1h40).
Possibility to have a coffee or buy a sandwich on site, very practical.

Very professional and pleasant welcome. A real desire to help us if necessary, good listening from the administrative staff and teachers.
A lot of fluidity on arrival, good explanations on the organization of the week and possible activities.

School very well located in Dublin, easy to access. Pleasant premises.
Interesting activities (visit to Kilkenny, Irish dance show, etc.), with choice.

Accommodation in Rathmines: clean, with a sink in the room. Meals ok except breakfast with very little choice.
20 minutes walk from the school, quite feasible.

In short, a superb enriching experience in terms of skills acquired and on a human level with great encounters. A top Atlas organization.

Thank you Atlas!

"In general, I liked the school."

Susanna Trytyachenko, student from Ukraine

Thanks for the education. I liked the teacher training, teaching materials, game form of learning, they were productive for me. Among the shortcomings are the lack of desks in the new building and the frequent replacement of teachers. In general, I liked the school.

"Great"

Alix TROMP, student from France

Hi! I really enjoyed my trip in Dublin with Atlas language School
However the school is better for child than teenager and I would prefer to be with adults to study than to be with teen of my age. We were like child( we have to come back with the private and it wasnt allowed to comme back with our own. )
Also the social activity were great but shorter. We have not a lot of time in the museum for exemple. They prefered to let us freetime to make shoppings. But for myself I would prefer to read and enjoy the museum

I recommand this scool because I learned a lot and I want to come back alone in Dublin. Its a lovely town for a student, if you dont care about the weather!

"Best experience in my life so far"

Marie Loustau-Curutchet, student from France

My experience in atlas was unbelievable. I studied during 6 months there. I changed my levels many times to stick with my improvements. Almost all of my teachers were very good and very good persons as well. A lot of activities are proposed during the afternoon or evening, some overnight trips across Ireland. It s a good opportunity to practice English and make a lot of friends from all around the world.
What you need to know going to Dublin is related to the housing prices, they are super high and the ones proposed by the school are following the same trend.

"Very chill and nice"

Simon Collet, student from Switzerland

My class was very nice. The number in it allowed me to study in an effective way. Plus the teachers were very nice, funny and chill. It made the atmosphere in the class very relaxed.
The location was perfect because it wasn't too close to the city center and not too far. And it was also very beautiful right by the canal.
The facilities are the thing that disappointed me a little bit. By that I mean the computers were very slow and full of unused things of students that left that there after having used the computer.
The activities were nice but nothing crazy. Plus if you hadn't a friend there it was kind of boring. I think the school should organize group activities of 4 or 6 people with a random formed group for people to meet other people more easily. Because if you don't know anybody, it is not that easy to make new friends.
I wasn't in a house organized by the school because I thought it was a bit expensive. So I looked up for a house on my own and after 2 weeks in a hostel, I found a house in Dublin 12. I was in a room with two Brazilian guys. It wasn't perfect but it was ok just for 2 months.

Lorenzo Nicola Mueller, student from Switzerland

I really enjoyed my overall experience in Atlas, and I would recommend it to everybody who wants to improve and study English. The teachers and the classes were always good. The only thing I would have loved more is if there were some sports activities with the school. Everything else was perfect.

"Wonderful experience"

Sara Martin Barreiro, student from Spain

I had classes with Atlas Language School and stayed at a homestay. I'm really satisfied with my experience.

The school location was good. It took about 15 minutes to walk to the city centre, and it was a nice place near the river. There was also a bike station next to the School.

The classes were very interesting and dynamic. There were people from all over the world, so we learned about different cultures and the English language as well.

In my opinion, all the staff were kind and friendly, and were concerned about how we felt. The teachers were quite good too. Heather and Ian were above all, in my opinion. They were really interested in our learning and I was never bored in their classes.

In addition, there were a lot of extra-curricular activities in the afternoon, evening or during the weekend. Some of them were free, while some cost a small sum of money.

My host was lovely. I applied to have a vegetarian diet and she tried to cook different kinds of food for me. Moreover, she tried to talk slowly in order for me to understand her, and she usually corrected my mistakes.

My homestay was near the school, about 20 minutes walking from there.

I am delighted with my choice. If and when I would want to improve my English again, I'll choose Atlas School again.

Valeria Alessandra (Sandra) Davolio, student from Denmark

Sorry, I am so busy with my work, in Denmark I can't spend so much time writing to you. It is still difficult for me to express my thoughts in English but I 'd like to assure you that every every thing was perfect and I did enjoy all.
I didn't take part of social activities (no time for that!)

"Pretty much perfect"

Sebastian Araneda

I liked pretty much everything, the host family I lived with were some of the nicest people I've met and I'm still in contact with them. The classes were meant to teach us and also have us interact with other students of the same level. We had tests every Friday to check our progress and the teachers kept track of our improvements.

They had activities everyday, from extra classes (like public speaking, or "English around the world" where they taught us some differences in the language in different countries) and trips. Normally there were local tourist trips on Wednesdays, and on the weekends there were trips all around Ireland. The only problem I saw on these trips was that there were a limited amount of people that were allowed to go, so you had to have the money ready to pay on Monday or Tuesday so you were on the list. (I can't blame them though, I can see the problems lending the money or letting people pay after would bring.)

Once I heard a rumour about a host family stealing money from their student, but as I recall, the problem was fixed right away and those guys are no longer a host family.

The location was perfect. It was pretty much in the center, it had a bus stop on the corner, and was close to the Luas (the metro/subway). It was also close to most of the host families' houses.

I remember once we had a problem with an activity. The driver of the bus preferred to take us to a not-so-cool town instead of staying on a beautiful Irish landscape. We stayed in the landscape for around 20 minutes and we sat on benches in the town for like an hour. (I think it had to do with the driver's allowed driving hours, but having known the driver from pretty much all the previous activities I thought he would listen to our complaints. He was a nice guy though.)

The facilities were great, having perfect-sized classrooms, a cafeteria, a study room, a computer lab and many other cool school rooms, but I went in the winter and in some classrooms the radiators weren't working so the people were kind of freezing. Lucky for me, a guy in my class complained a few days before I arrived, so it wasn't a problem for me.

Long story short, it was amazing, I really had to make an effort to remember those details that I didn't like but my ratings above say everything.

P.s. The dates below aren't exact, because I don't remember the exact dates right now, but they are really close to the exact ones.

"It's been an incredible experience."

Nadine Miribung, student from Italy

I really enjoyed my stay in Dublin. My host-family was really kind to me, I had a big bedroom and the house was clean and spatially. I felt like home.
I also liked the school and the teachers were all friendly. I think that we played too much games. I didn't really understand if it helped to improve our english. It seemed a little bit as if it wouldn't be taken really seriously. I preferred to speak a little bit more, maybe about facts, and to have discussions.
Another thing that I didn't like was that the activities in the afternoon were often repeated. I for example went 4 times to the wax museum, but I didn’t really have the opportunity to go to the seaside, that was a pity. I was really bored and also a little bit annoyed.
I liked the excursions on Saturday!
I would have preferred if we had had more free time, maybe in the afternoon to go for a walk in the city center or explore Dublin.
But time has gone really quickly and I made a lot of friends. I would return if I had the possibility!

Ask a question

"I have a prospective student from Russia who has studied at Atlas Language School in the Upper Intermediate B2 course before, and would like to study at your school again. She is only 14. Is there an advanced class for such young students? Are there are other start dates for this course in the summer?"

Dyan Test, student from USA
Nico Dowling, Atlas Language School school representative

I confirm that at Atlas Junior Program we have from Elementary to Advanced level.

"I have a prospective student from Russia who would like to study at Kaplan International College: Dublin. The student has some very specific questions since he's studying for such a long time. Will the student be able to fly home for the holidays? The school is closed from 22 Dec to 4 Jan. Given that the student will need a visa to enter and study in Dublin, will this visa allow him to leave and come back without problems? The student swims. Is it possible to continue his swimming in Dublin while studying. Are there any organizations or public pools or teams anywhere?"

Dyan Test, student from USA

He can leave Ireland and re-enter if he pays for the multi-entry visa. Of course, he can join a local gym that offers swimming. The school staff will happily assist him in finding the ideal version for him.

"Thanks for your quick response. I was wondering, since the student is flying back home to Russia during the Christmas break from Dec 21 to Jan 4, does he need to pay the Christmas Home stay supplement fee? I would assume not, correct?"

Dyan Test, student from USA

You are absolutely right, he does not need to pay the Christmas Supplement as he will not be spending Christmas there.

"Both student want to stay at the same host family. No matter if in a double or 2 rooms. It is fine for both students to share a twin room in the host family. It is very important the family is near the school cause one of the guy suffer of one disease called Motion sickness. So that he can't stay in the same position in a car or bus for too long. Also, what about the trips and excursions which involve a few hours bus journey? Is it possible to find a family with kids of their age (more or less)? Where do they have lunch?"

Aoife Govern, International House: Dublin school representative

It is fine for both students to share a twin room in the host family. All students will have to take the bus to school each day so it’s important they know this. Also, what about the trips and excursions which involve a few hours bus journey? Yes, this should be fine. Hot lunch Monday-Friday in the school canteen is included in the price, packed lunch from the families at weekends. We will provide these details once the booking is made on the booking confirmation letter.

"How long is the journey from the house to the school? Is it possible to find one very near to the school?. For the excursions: Could you maybe organize the trip making more stops during the journey?"

Carlo Rostagno, student from Italy
Aoife Govern, International House: Dublin school representative

The bus journey will be around 15 minutes each way to school. I’m afraid we won’t be able to stop many times on the journey so if this student’s complaint is very serious, I’m not sure he should come, to be honest.

"For the journey from the house to the school is ok, cause 15 minutes it's not a lot. About the stops were you talking about the daily journey or the weekend one? If that, if he doesn't go is there any chance he can participate to some other activities or organize something with the family?"

Carlo Rostagno, student from Italy
Aoife Govern, International House: Dublin school representative

I’m afraid the full day trips on Saturdays are compulsory for all students. We wouldn’t have any other activities on offer and the families expect the students to go on the excursion

"I have 2 students, one of them has a very particular situation. It is very important the family is near the school cause one of the guy suffer of one disease called Motion sickness. So that he can't stay in the same position in a car or bus for too long. Now I understand there are excursions, will they have long journey? If yes can you arrange some stops during the trip? How long is the journey from the school to the family? Is it possible to find a family with kids of their age (more or less)."

All our Junior families are located about 30 minutes by bus from school, as you may know we have a private bus who take students from the family to the school and vice verse. Students have pick up points close to their families house, and the bus stop at the pick up points to get them. We can try to find a family walking distance for the student however he would not be able to join the private coach then, and he would have to make his own way to the school. Regarding the trips I am afraid most of the activities they will be using the private bus and they can be from 30 minutes to 2 hours on the bus, to be very honest if the journey is as long as 2 hours they might make a stop, however considering the number of students we have to manage and we are responsible for, I am afraid making more than one stop would not be possible.

"I have a prospective student from Germany who would like to study at Atlas Language School. Can you make an exception and let him study from Thursday till Thursday instead of Monday till Friday (first and last week) due to the schedule of the flight."

Nico Dowling, Atlas Language School school representative

Regarding the fact he would like to start on Thursday we could exceptionally organize that to him, however if he is arriving on Tuesday and leave on Thursday I would strongly recommend to him to start the course on Wednesday 5th of November and finishes on Wednesday 3rd of December.

"I have a prospective student from Germany who would like to study at A2Z School of English Dublin. The student is only 15 years old and is below the minimum age of 16 years old required to join the course below. Can you make an exception and accept our student into the program? The customer will turn 16 on the 30th of March. Could you let me know the dates of the possible CAE exams around mid/end July , application deadlines and further cost for the exam/material, etc.? The father is looking for a course that consists of 30 lessons per week, which course could she combine the CAE course with? What is the average number of students in the CAE classes?"

I have sent an e-mail to our examination and compliance manager regarding acceptance and CAE exam dates I will get back to you later today, but I think we'll be able to make an exception since she would be staying for so long! Does the student already have a FCE? Regarding the timetable, I have just spoken to the Dublin team who guaranteed 4 lessons of CAE preparation per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings (19:00 to 20:50) with the possibility to pushing this number to 6 lessons per week, 10 lessons of A2Z Method and the possibility of tailoring the remaining 10 lessons according to her needs: she could for example do Skills or Grammar and Vocabulary, which she could be able to decide when she arrives, what she would like to do. We would then possibly reach a total of 24 lessons per week of a course tailored just for her needs. If you could maybe discuss this with the student and give me some feedback, I could then pass it on to the academic team in Dublin. We could then see exactly what she wants and offer the most suitable for her.

"The student is planning to stay for 18 weeks in Dublin and would like to finalize her stay with the CAE exam. Do you think it makes sense to combine the morning and afternoon course with the CAE prep classes for 12 weeks? Do you already know when the exam dates will be? What are the application deadlines, material fees, exam fees? She would be available from March 23 but does only turn 16 on March 30."

Ciaran McMahon, ULearn school representative

It will depend on her current level of English, the CAE exam is a C1 level test. If the student is currently A2, by the end of the 18 weeks she should be able to pass the PET (B1) or FCE (B2) exam. We will have an FCE exam preparation course from March - June and another one from June - August. We recommend the students to join our morning course plus the exam preparation course in the evening. We normally recommend our students to book the exam on the following link: http://alcexams.ucd.ie/cambridge/bookexam/
<http://alcexams.ucd.ie/cambridge/bookexam/ We offer the exam preparation, but we are not an examination center. Students must book a place for the exam in University College Dublin. The age should not be a problem.

"I understand that she should wait and only start her course on her birthday itself (30st of March, 2015). I don't think that there will be a problem for her to start one week later. Does this mean that the CAE Preparation Morning Course (20 lessons per week) would not be available? Could you let me know the price of tailored courses? you proposed for 18 weeks: 4 to 6 CAE lessons - 10 lessons of A2Z Method & the possibility of tailoring the remaining 10 lessons according to her needs: she could for example do Skills or Grammar and Vocabulary. Do I understand correctly that the exam dates for CAE are not yet available for July 2015? Is the best option to let the student book the exam course directly online? Are there any extra fees for materials, etc? Do you offer activities for the students enrolled in your school , do you maybe have an exemplary schedule?"

We currently do not have a full-time CAE preparation course available in Dublin, but only in Manchester at the moment. Since the Dublin school is smaller than our Manchester school, we are able to offer a more tailored course. Regarding the CAE examination, this is the link that was given by my colleague. I believe that dates for July are not available yet! I believe that they will be able to book online, she would also be able to ask the student support team to help her with her booking. While students usually have to buy course books and materials in our London and Manchester schools, material fees are free in Dublin, where teachers lend course books to the students and provide materials for modules. Regarding activities, please see below for more information:
Monday – Movie Club (at school)
Tuesday – School Outing (an admission fee might sometimes be charged for
these outings)
Wednesday – Walking Tour
Thursday – Tea Party (at school)
Friday – Night out (drinks in the pub) - only for 18 + students.
Weekends – Day trips are organized to various places around Ireland:
Galway, Cliffs of Mother, Belfast and Titanic, Giants Causeway, etc.

"So the final pricing would be for a course of a total of 24 lessons per week or 26 lessons?"

Tim Adler, student from Germany

There will be UK public holidays during your clients course, therefore, four school days have been automatically added to the end of her course. Would she not like to benefit from these days? If not, I will take them off the invoice manually. Also, could you please ask your student to take our online test before confirming, in order to assess if she is the right level for CAE? http://www.a2z-english.com/testmyenglish.

"Is accommodation included in the price? is airport service fee included in the price?"

ANA CRISTOBAL ORFO, student from Spain

The price is a package price, that includes the course, accommodation, activities, excursions and the private bus. The airport transfer is an additional money and the students can book additional evening options if they like.

"I have a group of 10 students from Italy who would like to study at Atlas Language School. They must study and receive a certificate for a level of C1 or else their course will not be worthwhile for them. Could you please send me a test that they can all take to make sure that they will be placed into your advanced level course to receive a certificate for C1 after three weeks?"

Dyan Test, student from USA
Nico Dowling, Atlas Language School school representative

To check availability I need to know if they would like to have a class only for them or mixed if they all are C1 level. Please find our online assessment test link below:

"The students were wondering what other activities are at the school that they can partake in or if there are any included (which I don't believe there are, correct?). Could you please advise so I can get back to them before they need to present the course to their school coordinator?"

Dyan Test, student from USA
Nico Dowling, Atlas Language School school representative

If they are a closed group we can plan a program special for them including different kind of activities they might be interested in, however the price would be different so we would have to do a new quotation according to what they are looking to do. Otherwise our normal Program includes the following:
- Access to afternoon electives, we offer 3 afternoons week electives as Pronunciation class, English Through Music, Irish life and culture, film club among others.
- Access to Social and cultural Program at discounted prices
- End-of-course certificate

"I have a prospective student from France who would like to study at A2Z School of English Dublin."

Isabel Kaczmarek, A2Z School of English school representative

As the student is a complete beginner we would advise private lessons first just to accustom and then the student can join the open classes.

"I have a prospective student who would like to study at Atlas Language School. These 2 students would be coming together and want to share a room in your residence. However, they are from different genders, would this be allowed?"

I confirm that students with different gender can share a room in the residence as long as they are not under age.

Was this helpful? Yes

"Which residence could take 2 students in the same room then?"

During summer months July and August Griffith Hall residence can place 2 students in the same room, and if students are looking to stay in a twin room together outside summer, or any time of the year Terenure Park would be the residence available.
