«The principle of Asia International Language Center is to support students so that they can make their bright future. Founder: Akira Toyama»
The school started as a Japanese institute for war-displaced people in China in 1993 first, and even now we do it actively.
After that, the school started as a Japanese language school for international students because the number of international students from China increased. We founded language schools in China, Shan Dong Sheng and Fu Jian Sheng and so on, and also in Indonesia, Russia, Vietnam, Laos and other areas.
We could have gained various experience through teaching Japanese, and we could establish the strategy about life in Japan, higher education, employment and a practical way which are useful.
We think Japanese language school is the place where international students start a new life and need to teach not only Japanese, but the life skills to adapt themselves to social life, and we have the responsibility for sending them to society.
For that reason, we think students need to do the self-managed and reflect how to react in society.
We practice the way of teaching on extracurricular activities. The reason why we think it is important to study both using their head and using mind their mind and body and experience Japanese culture. Learning Japanese is just a tool, not the final goal of human resource development.
We hope everybody who wishes to study in Japan will take courage to challenge new world so that they can make their dreams come true.
At last, please see our principle once again and we promise that.
At our school, enthusiastic and qualified Japanese teachers teach with a balance of the four key elements of studying (listening, speaking, reading and writing) using interactive materials as powerpoint presentation as well. Thanks to this, AILC students receive scores that are above the average when taking the JLPT.
The teachers at our school will all do their best to help you - not only with improving your Japanese language and manners but also things like finding a part-time job, entering a university or other areas where you might need personal guidance.
We hold an Information session on entering the Japanese higher education system at our school twice a year.
Life at our school is not all about studying. You will get to know a lot about Japanese culture, for example, participating summer festival and making rice cakes with Japanese neighborhood, and experience of Japanese traditional culture and day trip to Mt. Fuji by bus. We hope you will feel Japanese culture in through on skin through fun events.
We always support students who do their best and try hard.

Our school is located in the scenic coastal city. The tram ride to Tokyo the most prosperous places only need 40 minutes to school from the nearest station need only three minutes on foot. Here is the political, economic and cultural center in Yokohama. Public facilities, banks, shopping malls, parks, baseball fields around the school, is very convenient.
The school is very good, teachers are helpful, you can learn japanese language in good pace, at least for me the pace was adequate. Minna no nihongo was used as base, but we got tonns of other book in a filer. As I was in beginner group, i can speak only about it. I think the difference between teaching methods are appear here :). Be patient, you will get the same from teachers. There was a group of teachers, who changed on daily base. We got a teacher for monday, tuesday and so forth. Social activities: can't say anything, 3 monts is short time, but the feeling in school was very good, as a foreign student
The hotel was 5 mins walking, and it is very good.
As a beginner would I recommend it? Yes
I attended classes of Chinese students. For this class, each level of JPLT can be reached after 3 months. Teachers are kind and helpful. Grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, kanji are taught equally. At the end of 3 months, there is test to evaluate language level. There are also parties on special occasions, such as Xmas, Red leaf viewing, etc. AILC also cooperates with companies to introduce part-time job for students.

The installations are rather lackluster since the school Is located at a shared building .
The surroundings of the school take some getting used to.
Students are very welcoming and kind to each other.
If I were to make any recommendations it would be to include support for students who are not from Asia, since many of the support from the staff is directed to the majority of chinese students attending the school while students from occidental countries tend to lack this kind of support.
I made many friends in the class, each from different nations but all united in their learning of Japanese. The teacher had huge hearts. They always tried their best to motivate and empathize with the students' situation, no matter their background. They threw a farewell party for me when I left the school, cooking okonomiyaki together in the classroom. I will never forget my experience at Asia International Language Centre.
The facilities at times were lacking (especially the toilets...) but overall I cannot complain.
The class were maybe a bit too full but everyone was friendly. The teacher were also very welcoming although I came only for one month, helpful and patient.
The location is perfect, close to Yokohama and to convenience stores.
The building is probably the negative point of this school. I was expecting a narrow building but the inside was a bit too "grey". I think it needs a better decoration and give a warmer atmosphere. A place where people can eat, drink and chat would also be great, because everyone has to come back in the class for the breaks as it is not allowed to eat near the building. The lack of fresh air is what bothered me the most. The class felt like an enclosed space and I don't think it's a good place to study although it's only for a few hours a day.
I didn't take part in activities with teachers as my time there was limited but I could share great moments with students anyway.
I had my own housing with a local which is the best I could have.
Amazing team of Teachers who support you all the time. Various activities in the classroom. We had self cooking party with all the classmates. Everyone is very kind and attentive And above all, Japan is just amazing.
