Course description

Our TOEFL program is a 12-week intensive course that reviews the structure of the test, all four skill areas (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), and useful techniques to help you achieve your desired score. We work on one skill area each day Mondays-Thursdays and finish the week with a practice exam that includes all four skill areas on Fridays.

Students will need to either complete Level 5 of our ESL program or prove sufficient English skills by taking our placement test and scoring at or above the score our Level 5 students are expected to achieve by the end of the program. At the end of the 12-week TOEFL class, students will be prepared to take the TOEFL exam. This course may be repeated.

"My experience was informative and so fun!"

Rache

American English Language School is a great place for students to learn and practice their English! Students get many opportunities to speak and engage with their classmates and their teacher because classes are kept under 8 students. The teachers really encourage a LOT of conversation in the classroom! The classrooms are clean and spacious, but the desks are arranged to allow the most conversation between classmates!

"I love their Guarantee Program!"

Michelle Han

I tried this school 4 quarters (1 year) because of their guarantee program. I was a little doubtful about their guarantee program but I chose this school mainly because of their small class size. I didn't want to be in class with other 10 students. I wanted to talk more with my classmates and teacher rather than just listening in class. My reading and grammar were ok and I really wanted to improve my speaking and that's why I came to this school.
This school, I guess, is known for their small group class size where there are about 5 students per class. I think it's because they don't advertise and don't work with many agencies. The tuition is very reasonable...well almost cheap you can say. During my stay for 4 quarters, my class size was 5, 3, 7, and 4. Actually I liked it very much! I started with Level 2 and finished at Level 5. After a year, I took the official TOEFL test there (they are also iBT TOEFL testing center) and got 78! They really guaranteed my score! I have to admit that not only this school was good for me, I also studied very hard after my class. If you are serious about improving your English, this is the BEST school in Los Angeles, California. Try! You won't regret it!

"AELS is an amazing English school in Orange County."

Eugene Lee

I studied at AELS for about a year and the class sizes are small and the teachers give a lot of individual attention. The teachers are all professional native English Speakers who helped me practice pronunciation and grammar. The location and facilities are clean, professional and in Brea, California. I really liked my experience with Ms. C, she was great!

"The best and most affordable English school for serious English learners"

Miles Fu

I have attended American English Language School since October and I love it. All of their classes are 8 students or less, and my class only had 3 other students, so it felt almost like a private lesson. Because classes were so small, we all improved a lot in our English, especially SPEAKING. This is because we were able to practice a lot more and get feedback and corrections from the teacher right away.
The teachers were caring and sincere. You could tell they were passionate about their jobs and helping students. I have always felt welcomed in class and never nervous to speak up or ask questions.
Another thing I love about this school is the cultural trips we take and Culture Week. We learn a lot about American culture and the students' cultures and it makes learning English more exciting than sitting in a classroom with a textbook. The classes and lessons were diverse, and I really feel more comfortable speaking English at work and to strangers than I did before coming here.
I would highly recommend this school for anyone seriously looking to improve their English for an affordable price.

"This school has great teachers and many chances to speak."

Rebecca Lee

I had a great experience at this school. My class only had seven other students so we had a lot of chances to speak and get corrections from the teacher on our speaking. This school also has the TOEFL guarantee program that is unlike any other school in my area. The teachers are great and the curriculum is geared toward academic English and daily life so it really helped me in and out of the classroom.

visa

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying full time in the United States for more than 18 hours per week, you will receive an I-20 that you need to submit to the US embassy along with your F-1 student visa application. The I-20 has a SEVIS tracking number on it. Students who wish to apply for a student visa must pay the SEVIS fee online before going to the US embassy or consulate for their visa interview.

Your I-20 will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.

Please note that United States law states that an I-20 can only be issued to students who intend to pursue full-time English language studies. United States law does not permit students to study part-time with an F-1 Student Visa. If you are studying for less than 18 hours per week, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.
