It is conveniently located near the 405 San Diego Freeway and a few miles south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Although the South Bay is known for its hotels, shopping centers, entertainment facilities, and parks, it also is known for its beautiful beaches, one of which holds the annual Daily Breeze International Surf Festival, attracting thousands of visitors each summer. The nation's largest and longest-running Armed Forces Day Observance is hosted each May, the Mobil 10k run each spring, the Torrance Beach Cities Team Triathlon in September, the Bunka-Sai Japanese Festival, the Gourmet Food and Wine Festival, and the Torrance Film Festival.
