Central school is situated in Athens, the capital of Greece, a city with almost 6.000.000 inhabitants.
The School is in the city center, next to the park “Pedio tou Areos”, 200 meters from the Underground station and next to many bus and trolleybus terminals.
Athens is a charming city, during all seasons and days. The choices for the visitors and our students are many, including visits to Museums and walks at Acropolis and the Ancient Market, as well as going for a coffee or a meal and enjoying themselves in a modern or traditional Greek restaurant or a bar, until the early hours.
The teachers were very helpful, the quality of teaching was of a very high standard and the resources provided were very useful. The lessons were structured very systematically and the exercises were accustomed to all aspects of the language (reading, writing, listening and speaking)

Show details » Read more...I had lessons with Kristina, who was lively and always made learning feel relevant and engaging. I also thoroughly enjoyed the extra activities like dance and our museum visits which enabled me to learn more about Greek history and culture. There really wasn’t much to dislike.

I had lessons with a wonderful young girl named Vasiliki, who is an excellent professor.
I had also a wonderful experience in communication with the school director as well as other professors and Irini, who works as an office manager.
If you love Greece and the Greek language, this school is a wonderful experience! I would love to come again next summer!
I recommend everyone to try it. You will enjoy! You will like it very much!
I enjoyed my time at the school. I had private one to one lessons and helped me to learn at my own pace. I met other students who were studying in a class who interesting to chat with during a break in lessons.

I’ve got to know many interesting people from my, but also the other classes. The school is in a beautiful old building , right next to the park and many coffee shops / food spots. Each week, we had at least 2 activities in the afternoon. From going to the museum, to eating out in the evening was everything included. It was a great experience I will never forget. Thank you Center of Greek language & culture Alexander the Great !!!
Show details » Read more...Warm welcome by the very friendly school team. The building dates of the beginning ot the 20th century and was previously a very nice private house. It is located not far of the University, a few minutes walking of the National Museum of Archeology.
In my opinion, the school material used is largely sufficient. Because of my intermediate level, I was not included in a group but I had 3 hours of private lessons each morning (instead of 2 hours as usually in that case, but due to my motivation and the good contact with my teacher I was kindly offered to do 1 hour more per day!) with exercises to do by myself afterword.
I really liked my teacher, who was a very nice person, and very competent. Thanks to her and thanks to my personal work, I'm happy with the progress I have been able to make in just 1 week (5 days). I hope I can repeat the experience next year, possibly in Crete, since the school Alexander the Great has also a site there.
My stay couldn't have been better! I had an amazing time in Athens and loved the school so much! The teachers and stuff in the school were as charming, professional and attentive as possible. The lessons were fun and productive, and every other activity organized by the school was an absolute joy! I'll definitely be back next year.

Will definitely visit the school again for longer courses!
Mine was an intense private course, so alone with a very competent teacher for 20 hours/week (for 2 weeks). I liked above all the professional and friendly learning experience, well-divided in conversation and grammar with written exercises. The location was ideal, in downtown Athens, in an old and elegant building, which included a useful library. All the staff was very friendly. The housing (apartment), organized by the school, was very comfortable and located in walking distance from the school (15 min.). One suggestion: some audio-visual material/equipment could usefully be added to the teaching.
Show details » Read more...I had been very satisfied to have attended the course. It was what I was expecting. The director of the school friendly received us and introduced us to the school with an introductory meeting. All the students were present and he explained the general target of the course, the program of the lessons and extra activities. In the class I found a young but very prepared and skilled teacher who explained us in a very professional way the topic. It was easy for me to follow the teacher, even if it was quite hard for me to get and to fix in mind the various elements of the Greek Language. Nevertheless I was excited to attend the lesson and I tried to apply myself with engagement. Also extra activities were interesting. Apart the classical visit to the Archeological Museum of Athens, we attended an amusing movie on Greek style of life. I liked it and I think that the Greek life should be presented more in large to foreign students. Anyhow I was very satisfied about the experience. It was what I expected, and it may be I will attend a second course in the next future.
Show details » Read more...I took a five-hour immersion class over 2 days, and my teacher, Kostas, was amazing. He was patient, and demystified a lot of the basic issues that I didn’t understand about the language. In addition, he made a point of covering a lot of the basics that I needed on a day-to-day basis, and gave context to the language and culture. I obviously have much more to learn, but I don’t feel as timid in speaking Greek and the experience made my visit so much richer. Everyone at the school is very kind and the building is a gorgeous place to visit. I’ll definitely be back

Next time I think I will prefer individual class because my experience is, that it's difficult for people to be on the same level in one class. Nice with the activities with the greek dance lessons and the museums visit.
Its in very stylished house maybe from the belle epoque. Very familial. The owner is always around and he is very good looking after the students. Our teacher, Nancy, is very petient and has a good humor. We laughed so much. She helped us to understand the thinking of the greek language. Aswell the school offers activities for understanding the greek cultur.
We recommend this school, the neighberhood is save while the daytime and the bildings are renovated and good loking. Maybe in the night is not the best aerea, but in the daytime is clean and quiet.
My experience of the school was limited as I had only booked a week. The teaching was excellent. I was in a class of 2 people and the teacher made sure we both participated equally in all aspects. The morning teaching was mainly devoted to grammar using a very well designed text book although our teacher was flexible and happy to cover anything that cropped up during that time. The afternoon teaching sessions were designed to encourage us to speak the language and again all praise to our teacher for making sure we both contributed-we covered some interesting topics and in so doing learnt a little more about each others countries, lives and cultures. We were set homework to do each evening and although it wasn't mandatory it was useful.
The school organises several extra-curricular activites such as a visit to a museum, a very interesting talk on the development and use of language across countries, Greek dancing etc.
The facilities in the school were adequate for it's size and usage, although I can imagine there being queues for the toilets when there are more students! The building is prretty centrally located and easy to reach with public transport, there are plenty of small shops and cafes around should anyone want to go for coffee or a snack.
All the staff I met were very welcoming and helpful including the Admin staff who were always willing to assist with everything from information to booking taxis.
I arranged my own accommodation so cannot comment on the housing aspect.
I found the experience challenging (it's a long time since I've been in a classroom!) but satisfying. It has motivated me to do a little more home study and I look forward to going back-for longer next time!
Thanks to all.
Good: location near a large park is perfect. Schoolrooms adequate. Headmaster is around all the time and ready to answer any question. Most of the reception ladies are very nice and smiley. They offer a lot of activities to which however I did not participate, so I cannot rate these. I had a nice teacher, she was very patient since I am a beginner.
Not good: Method of teaching with a book I rate being inadequate was old fashioned. Most of the time there was no writing material to write on the white board. I missed exercise papers to repeat grammar and vocabulary. Upon request they gave me some material but it was not measured to my knowledge. The teacher was nice but there was no variety of method. Modern language learning is a complete different issue. I will enroll in a language course next year, but at the moment I intend to choose another school.
Enjoyed my week everyday almost 2 hours intensive Greek. Maria was a passionate teacher trying to squeeze in as much as possible, being clear and a good balance with pushing and patience for a beginner.. I enjoyed the film offered and the background history shared with it. It gave some extras. We were not many students so dinner and the dancing didn't happen which was ok. I also didn't realise when I signed up, till I arrived this was part of the package. I may have missed that.
If possible I would do it again next year, it is good to get an intensive week in besides weekly lessons during the year at home - it gives it a boost.
I had one week of intensive Greek language classes at this language school in central Athens. The school caters for very small classes (3-4 students) at various levels. It is a very well run school. My teacher was very good; enthusiastic and with a great and entertaining classroom manner. She pushed us to learn but it was always enjoyable to do so. I learned a lot!
Show details » Read more...The classes were productive. It took some time to find the correct pace, as we were a small group, but eventually we got there. Much attention was given to students' needs and to our sense of accomplishment, while trying to push forward as much as possible without wasting time on repetitive exercises. However, I would have benefited more from more freestyle oral exercise rather than adapting the same texts read in the book to our individual circumstances. That being said, in two weeks I have achieved a basic understanding of the language and its use. With some practice, this will be put to good use.
The teachers were competent and kind, and aside from some setbacks, were very accommodating to the students' needs.
The school is conveniently located near a metro station, across from a nice park, with food, transportation and points of interest in short distance.
The facility is a beautiful building with very nice spaces housing the various groups of students of varying levels.
The extracurricular activities were nice, but I only participated in about half of them, so I can't comment.
The staff is VERY welcoming and is very committed to the students and their well being. The groups are very small, mine included 3 students only, a size which enables very good practice with the advantages of a group. The activities (like going to a museum, dancing lesson etc. are with all the students, thus one gets to know other students as well.
The level of learning is very high (sometimes too quick to perceive...!) and learning experience is extremely positive.
I would love to have more practising time and more activities, but the whole experience was great and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND learning there!
It was a nice atmosphere overall. The teacher, the director and the secretary were extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful.

Show details » Read more...The school is situated in a beautiful house, and the classes are perfect for the small groups. The facilities could be a little bit better, but they are ok. The activities for A1-students, like me, are not so easy to understand, but this depends on the my Greek
expertise. Our teacher was very good. It was an intensive week, but we have learned a lot!! I think I'll come back for further Greek lessons!
I had 2 hour-private lessons each morning for a week 7-11 May, in order to prepare the B2 exam in Greek language, which was taking place on 16 May.
The teacher was dynamic, she gave me a lot of tips for the exam and was trying to identify issues I should further work on in the afternoon. I had intensive homework to do for the next day: listening tests, writing tests, which were corrected the next day with specific focus on grammar/vocabulary improvement. All tests were based on previous years' official B2 exams.
As soon as I arrived at the school on Monday 7, I was included in a short introductory session, with other people attending the school that week. This was very useful to be integrated in the school (especially that I had private lessons and could not meet people during the lessons). I was also fully integrated in the activities that were proposed (cinema, museum...), even if I participated to the museum activity only. This was the opportunity to meet other people, teachers and students, and discuss in Greek!
Facilities are very nice, next to Omonia square, in a nice peaceful building in front of a park. The director and the assistants were very friendly the whole week, making sure I was fine in Athens, fine with my accommodation, having no troubles and safe. At the end of my stay, the director received me for 15 min in his office and offered me a book in Greek for my next steps, as well as a certificate of attendance.
Because we were with two students in the classroom I could speak/ learn a lot. People were very friendly Accommodation was good but they will move the next week. I was a little bit difficult to find the entrance. I was early, the first day after holidays and the door was closed. The entrance was the next door but no marking of Alexander the Great. People of the cafeterias informed me about the correct entrance. Good teacher, interesting activities. The only thing I missed was the sea to take a swim. It was hot. However in the center you have other advantages.

Show details » Read more...I was in a B2 class first with just one, later with two classmates so everyone gets a lot of practice in speaking. Teachers are clearly very professional, with degrees in philology or linguistics and they know what they are doing. You are in excellent hands! They will push and challenge you and assign a fair amount of homework to prepare for an intensive course. We used Taksidi stin Ellada II and III (published by the School, along with a useful phrasebook in various language permutations). The books are excellent, very well-structured and personally I found the topics very interesting. We also occasionally used handouts with grammar exercises or newspaper articles.
The teachers are warm and nice to talk to. I must also mention the director, Mr. Kostas is a really lovely person, always ready to help or chat with students. His passion for Greek culture, for geography, history and etymology is infectious. I could listen to him all day. He also organized a few extra-curricular activities: a nice dinner under the Acropolis, a few talks on the journey from Ancient to Modern Greek, a movie with a brief but fascinating introduction to modern Greek history... In summer they do introductory classes for those interested in Greek theater as well as some other activities, e.g. intensive courses.
The library is very well stocked, classrooms are pleasant and the school is situated right across the street from the Archaeological Museum (a 10 mins' walk from Victoria metro stn.).
I would highly recommend this school to those who want to brush up their Greek, or are serious about learning the language in depth. I can't comment on beginners' courses but I'm hearing they are very good. Because the number of students is on the small side, it felt like a big family. I'll be coming back!
I enjoyed the structure of lessons, small size of class, variety of format and opportunity to talk. I also really appreciated that at school we were not only taught Greek language, but were also given an insight into the Greek culture, habits, traditions - a priceless information that you can't get from books. All the school personnel are very positive, warm, accessible, enthusiastic and professional. Our teacher gave us a great base for future learning!

Show details » Read more...The school was excellent. The teachers were very good and kind. I studied for 4 weeks and I got more of the basics of the language. I learned from the history of Greece and also poems and others. We also went to some restaurants to learn about their culture and their way of life. The director of the school was very kind and in all activities he was with us. He explained to us a lot of the Greek history. The fee for the school was, for me fully acceptable.
Show details » Read more...I loved the quality of the teachers and their predisposition to make you learn and the passion of teaching you can see in their faces during the whole morning. Special mention to Maria. The location is quite strange - its a small door that leads you in a kind of small house with a lot of floors.. the lift is very old.
Show details » Read more...I want to thank you for the excellent course organized in Athens. The school was great and I want to thank the director, and most of all teacher Sofia Yoanidu from whom I received great lessons.
I hope I have a chance to repeat their studies in this school in Athens, and if the expression may with the same teacher.
Greetings,
Borislav Almishev
We used the book: USGA, You Speak Greek Already.
That was tough.
The teachers were very kind and helpful with much patience.
They were very skilled.
At the end of my study time they gave me extra compliments.
The atmosphere was very relaxed.
My class consisted of two students.
Of course two weeks is too short for making me a native speaker.
But it was a start.
I have to return many times more.
And have exercises at home.
The hotel Parnon is a good location.
