So if I were a student I would be delighted. I can called this like language vacation.
Partly German lessons, partly social activities... it was funny and good experience.
But I needed intensive German lessons all time.
Teachers are good but I think need more structured lessons and more practice.
Special thanks to Felix
The staff was great, the teachers were great, I stayed with my real family and not with a host family so I can't say much on that. But overall my experience was pretty good. I just wish the second session I had planned wasn't cancelled. I was offered to do another after a months break, but by then Corona was starting to get big and I didn't want for it to be cancelled part way through. The only bummer was transit to the school was 40 minutes by bus and tram, but I expect thats pretty normal for cities like this and only unusual for American cities, where most people go by car.
Show details » Read more...There were only 2 classes: one for beginners and another one for “not beginners “ ( this includes everyone that has an A2-C1 level). This meant that it was hard for everyone to improve their german, because we were not all at the same level. Given the fact that i was more advanced , i was advised to ask my teacher for extra homework, which he gladly gave to me, but said that while i have enough time to do the extra work, he just does not have enough time to correct it all. In the second week, the school bought us an A 2.1 book, even though the level in my class was, as they told us later, A2.2-B1.1. That is probably the reason why our lessons did not follow a structured curriculum, we just talked about whatever came in the teachers mind at the time. In the end, I’d like to express my deepest repugnance towards one of my teachers constantly, almost daily misogynistic comments.
In conclusion, i would highly not recommend this course if your level is over A2. It is more likely to improve your german by buying a grammar book and work on your own at home than attending this course.
We regret the course didn't meet your expectation. The score of your placement test was 52/100, your classmates' results were 42 to 60. Beside individual speaking abilities, the course was homogenious regarding grammar competence and vocabulary. It was a A2-course tending to B1.
It would have been useful to ask for consultancy. Your evaluation in the first week didn't show your disapointment in that way. It would have been helpful to talk about the misogynistic comments you understood as such (in a discussion on feminism). There should be no need to say that Europa-Kolleg, in its self-understanding rejects discriminating tendencies of any kind.
Good teachers, the right training program, it was very interesting!
My German language level has risen.
We have made good friends with a roommate from USA.
Germany is very good and beatiful country!
The Gastfamily was very hospitable.
Thanks for this opportunity!
We were 3 students in my group for one teacher. From a pedagogical point of view, it was really ideal. The professors are very committed, they want us to progress and therefore have effective and thoughtful working methods. Every day I came home tired of the work done. I lived with a 78-year-old lady who spoke only German. She was really charming and took care of me all the time to make me feel at home. We really had a great complicity both. It is mainly thanks to her that I progressed orally.

I would have liked more phonetic and pronunciation classes. I had just two, I loved it, but not enough. Activities were interesting, but guides spoke too fast so I couldn´t understand anything and it was frustrating.
