The Intensive course is for students who want to maximize their language learning practice during their stay. The courses focus heavily on speaking and communication skills: the morning consists of 3 hours in communication skills, while the afternoon consists of activities in French to provide the opportunity to learn the local culture and customs.
The classes stress the use of language in everyday situations. Each day, students will first work on grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary, while then, they will focus on reading, writing, speaking and listening. Textbooks and a variety of other materials are used in instruction, including role-playing, newspapers, magazines and other materials. Students focus on special topics in the afternoon. The Swiss Touch School is located in Morcles, a picturesque mountain village. It offers stunning views of the Alps (in particular the twin summit of the Dent de Morcles and the Cime de l'Est), traditional Swiss houses and a convenient base for hiking, sealskin skiing or visits to the nearby thermal baths in Lavey.
Montreux is not far away: a vibrant town on the edge of Lake Geneva, best known for its summer jazz festival and its Christmas market.
In my opinion, the classes were very educational. I noticed a big improvement in my french pronunciation and vocabulary. I am able to speak more fluently and express myself correctly. From the beginning, the classes were perfectly adjusted to my level. I like the personal approach, because in this way we could really focus on my weaknesses.
On my secondary school, the teachers only pay attention to grammar, but during my stay at The Swiss Touch School, I also learned how to express myself verbally. I also enjoyed the way each day was organized. In the morning, I had a lovely breakfast with typical Swiss products. Then, there was a class of approximately 2 hours. The subjects were often the mistakes I made the day before, which was very useful to improve my French. Of course, I also got a little bit of homewerk for the next day. After the class, Christine prepared a meal for me. During the meal, we discussed what activities we would do in the afternoon. Christine made some proposals of which I could choose. There was a lot of variety. We visited a salt mine, a castle, an exposition about Dracula and many other things. These visits introduced me to the wonderful Swiss culture. We also made some small hikes and enjoyed the wonderful view in the mountains. This is one of the things I liked the most. After the activity in the afternoon, we had dinner. As an extra exercise, we discussed the things we did during the day. The reason my french improved so much is not only because the classes were very qualitative and well-organized, but also because I spoke French the whole day. Although I made a lot of mistakes, I felt comfortable speaking French, because Christine and Philippe are very kind and comprehensive.
I would recommend The Swiss Touch School to everyone, who is looking for an educational and pleasant stay in Switzerland!
