Course description

This programme is designed to develop language and study skills within a British academic context.
The programme aims to improve students’ academic grammar and vocabulary proficiency in reading and
writing. At the same time, it aims to improve students’ academic writing skills with a focus on critical thinking, integration of reading and writing.

This course also aims to improve students’ ability to participate in university course lectures, class
discussions and presentations.

This programme can be combined with an IELTS preparation course for those looking to improve their IELTS score.

Homestay is where a student stays with a family around the Manchester area so they can experience British family life. All our homestay families have been visited by our accommodation officer and are re-visited regularly to ensure quality- standards are maintained. Our families offer a welcoming and warm atmosphere, with the emphasis upon being part of the family.

Staying with a host family is a fantastic way of experiencing British culture and way of life. The experience that students get from staying in Homestay accommodation is invaluable.

All our families are in the Greater Manchester area and they are on average, a 30 minute bus ride to the school. Some families are closer, and some are further away.

You will get breakfast and an evening meal every day, and lunch at the weekend. Some hosts are happy to cater for special diets such as vegetarian and halal. Mealtimes are a great opportunity to sit down with your family and practice the English you have learnt in the day!

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from . Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged £ 50 when you register.
