"Good Exposure to the international community but not enough concrete progress made in the English language"

Yuji Ethan Taguchi, student from Japan

ECSF was centrally location in San Francisco’s Financial District with a stunning view of the city. The facility was posh and cozy at the same time. The Head, Director of teaching and staff were all so friendly and helpful, which made one felt really welcomed. However, although the morning sessions were somewhat helpful, the afternoon “intensive” classes were not well disciplined, in which several rowdy students dominated the class. The teaching skill of the afternoon teacher was not as effective and not much benefits were reaped.

My experience was amazing. To live in SF one month, the climate, food, streets of SF, even to improve my English in different environments not only in academic way.

"I had a great experience"

Isadora Marini Sanches, student from Brazil

I loved everything about EC English Language, I met good friends from many countries, I had different activities every day, the teachers showed me the city.
The location is perfect. Because the building of EC is in front of the subway, it's really easy to find.
The housing is a little bit far from EC but I was able to adapt, and the family is wonderful, I miss them.
I improved my English more than I expected. Despite the short time that I had been in San Francisco I did many activities.
It was a great experience and I could repeat it.

"Fun people, bit boring classes"

Patrick Francis Styger, student from Switzerland

The week in San Fran was awesome. Even though I already had a considerable amount of English skill, I chose to attend a language course to meet new people and I did stay in touch with them and came back one year later to see them again.

"New adventure"

César Barba, student from Mexico

My experience in EC San Francisco was very great! Before I arrive to San Francisco, all of the inscription process was realized. That was cool because I could stay at my homestay and enjoy my travel. All of the classes were dynamic and fun. The homestay was good but my mom in the homestay never cleaned the bedroom. The last day I asked her if I could leave my suitcase one day more because I traveled to Santa Rosa, and she said no, but the way that she told me was very rude, I didn't like that.

"Very good"

Ilya Kiselev, student from Russia

Negative moments: 1) I've had troubles with accommodation. We have discussed about hostel for one person in the room and we've arranged for it. But when I've come to SF, there wasn't any room for 1 person - it was really bad for me. 2) I want to have classes for business language and we had an arrangement before that I could for 2 weeks study general English and for the second 2 weeks do business language. But actually the school couldn't give me such an opportunity because there was no business group at that time (no one wanted to study business language in a group with me). You suggested for me to study not in a group, but that costs more money. This error is on the side of the managers who are attracting people for education, so I think you should work more precisely with managers to give them certain information about your possibilities. P.S. I hope I will help you to improve the quality of your education.

"Hospitality"

Christian Futtrup, student from Denmark

I like studying at the EC, both in San Francisco & San Diego. The only problem for me is that none of the schools are offering a proficiency class, even though they say so on the website. But for me everything else was really great, especially the hospitality at the schools.

"I enjoyed all the time that I spent there!"

JORDI ARMENGOL, student from Spain

The school is perfectly located, in the city center. The teachers are really friendly and mostly of them try to organize some activities on their own, out of the school schedule so you can discover places, towns, and villages around SFO with local people. They want to involve you in a great experience that every day allows you enjoy the city and know new people. Unfortunately, I only spent 5 weeks in SFO... Just one recommendation if you are thinking about to go there next summer: take some extra clothes with you because the weather will be colder than you will expect!

Staying with a local family is a great way to immerse oneself into American culture. This interaction with a family helps students communicate and practice their English in a more relaxed environment whilst also exposing themselves to new experiences - be it lifestyle, local food or simple day to day routines.

Most homes are single family or 2 family homes. The latter is usually two floors with one home on one floor and one on the other. Students are placed in a single or twin room. Each room is furnished with a bed, desk, dresser and closet, while some rooms have TVs and other amenities. It is important that rooms and living areas are kept neat and tidy. Students also have access to a shared bathroom.

Bed linen and towels are provided by the host family. Some San Francisco families do not have a washing machine in their home and use the services of a laundromat – this information will be included in the host family profile. In cases where families have a washing machine, students can use the laundry facilities although the number of washes per week remains at the discretion of each family.

visa

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying full time in the United States for more than 18 hours per week, you will receive an I-20 that you need to submit to the US embassy along with your F-1 student visa application. The I-20 has a SEVIS tracking number on it. Students who wish to apply for a student visa must pay the SEVIS fee online before going to the US embassy or consulate for their visa interview.

Your I-20 will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged $80 when you register.

Please note that United States law states that an I-20 can only be issued to students who intend to pursue full-time English language studies. United States law does not permit students to study part-time with an F-1 Student Visa. If you are studying for less than 18 hours per week, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.
