Course description

Kaplan's General English course offers both group lessons and structured, independent study sessions -- leaving students plenty of time for social activities and to explore their surroundings.

Do you want to spend a year abroad, learning English and really getting to know a new country and its culture? Kaplan’s Academic Year courses combine a first class English education with valuable qualifications, and a once-in-a-lifetime overseas experience. Our English Academic Year course is a 9 month course that combines learning English with a variety of other related studies to bring your English fluency up to the highest possible level. You will also have the chance to learn specific skills of your choice – from Business English vocabulary to film criticism. English Academic Year courses are available in all of our locations in Canada, Ireland, Malta, the UK and the US. Each week you will receive 20 lessons of General English and 7 sessions of Structured Study. Your General English classes will initially focus on making sure that you are able to communicate effectively in everyday English. A wide-ranging syllabus will then develop your overall linguistic skills, helping you to read, write and speak English with confidence and clarity. Your Structured Study sessions help you to reinforce what you have learned and improve the areas where you need most practice by using selected books, online language exercises and interactive computer programs.

You’ll be able to take advantage of our schools’ busy social calendars all year long, and have plenty of free time and holidays to go exploring, head off on ski trips, or spend a week on the beach!

School description

Kaplan’s English school in Vancouver is situated in a prime location, close to all the action of the city, but also only a short trip away from some of the most famous ski resorts in North America. Vancouver is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise, with no shortage of beautiful national parks, rivers, forests and Granville Island all under two hours from our English school in Vancouver’s front yard.

Our English courses in Vancouver let students take full advantage of British Columbia’s ski resorts and natural attractions by offering a busy social calendar. Our Social Team organizes frequent ski trips and weekends away in nearby national parks, as well as day trips to museums and galleries, and nights out at clubs, bars and restaurants.

Our English school in Vancouver is located in the heart of this scenic harbor city in British Columbia, close to the famous Robson Street shopping district. Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged C$ 90 when you register.
