Course description

SSLC’S ESL program is designed to be customizable for each student’s preferences and needs, therefore students can choose Morning classes only.

At SSLC, students can choose from two different methodologies to suit individual learning styles and maximize learning outcomes.

1, ESL; Skill Combined (ESL-SC)
All skills combined into one well-balanced class: Grammar, Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking
Concentrate on developing your overall level of English through communicative classes that enrich learning and produce fast results.

2. ESL: Skill Focused (SF)
Focus on developing Grammar, Listening and Reading & Writing skills

We have personally inspected every home that we recommend as a homestay.

Based upon your student application, we will carefully match you with a family that we believe will help make your stay in Canada enjoyable and memorable.

We will email you a profile of your host family and, if possible, provide you with an email address so that you can correspond with your new Canadian family before coming to Canada.

However, before arriving, there are a few things you should note to make your stay successful.

Your host family will:
- Provide you a clean, private room and three meals a day.
- Provide a study desk and good lamp.
- Host only 1 speaker of a particular language at one time.
- Example: Only 1 Japanese student.
- This may be subject to change during peak season.
- Provide access to laundry facilities to each student at least once per week.
- Provide internet to students as part of the Homestay fee.
- Show you how to use the bus / Skytrain.
- Orient you to your new neighborhood.
- Banks, Library, Recreation Center, etc.
- Be an English only environment.

You will:
-Be considerate of family members and respect household rules.
- Be responsible for your personal sundries.
- Example: Toothpaste, Shampoo, etc.
- Inform the family if you will not be home for dinner.

- Give 2 weeks notice to the family if you are changing your living arrangements.
- Make an effort to participate in family activities when invited.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged C$ 80 when you register.

Flights and airport transfer

Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to Victoria based on your budget, schedule and preferences.

Travel insurance

When you book a course with us, you can opt to purchase an international insurance plan that covers not only your health care cost but also loss of your personal belongings.
