ACCOMMODATION & FOOD
Students will be in rooms of 4 to 8 beds, sharing bathroom facilities with a few other rooms. Continental or English Breakfast and two hot meals per day served in the self-service restaurant.
ENGLISH CLASSES
24 hours of lessons during a 2-week stay
Students are given an English language test on arrival and placed in English classes according to their language level.
Average number of students per class:12-14 with a maximum of 16. Our teachers are all fully qualified. Many of our teachers have worked regularly on our past programmes. They work with great enthusiasm and energy to make their classes really vibrant and enjoyable.
Emphasis on spoken English and listening skills, including work on essential grammar and vocabulary. We aim to make students effective and confident in their everyday communication.
All course materials are supplied.
ACTIVITIES
Half days of sportive, leisure or cultural activities
Evening games
1 excursion per week
Examples of activities : abseiling, Jacob’s ladder, canoeing, climbing, survivor, raft building, mountain biking, giant swing, high ropes, archery, quad biking, pool games, sport and team games etc.
Examples of evening games: quiz, disco, movie night, talent contest, thematic night, treasure hunt, campfire etc.

teachers, instructors and youth leaders working under t
he direction of our Centre Director.

Barton Hall is located in Devon, the southwest region of the UK. At the heart of the English Riviera with views to Torquay, blue flag beaches and Dartmoor close by, it’s easy to see why this adventure centre is so popular with students.

The nationality and age mix at Anglophiles - Barton Hall varies over different time periods, courses and levels. Throughout the year, the average age is 15. In the summer, the average age is 14.

Barton Hall does not hold classes on the holiday dates below. The school does not compensate for these holidays, so make sure to choose your start date accordingly.

Student residences are more suitable for an independent student, who is looking for clean, basic accommodation at an economic price. All students must be 11 - 17. Your housing starts on the Sunday before your first day of class and ends on the Saturday after your last day of class, unless otherwise noted. Learn more about student residence accommodation
We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from Barton Hall. Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.
If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
