B2 German course - Independent - Independent use of language
Requirements
The B2 intensive course follows on from the B1 course at our educational institution. If you are not sure whether you can take the B2 course, we recommend that you take a free placement test before enrolling at our educational institution so that you take the right course. We are also happy to fill in any gaps in your knowledge that may exist. For example, if your B1 course was some time ago, our teachers will be happy to help you brush up on what you have already learned. An open atmosphere, where questions can be asked, is especially important for us.
You should already be familiar with a wide range of grammatical structures and words and be able to communicate without impediment. You should also be able to write coherently and use simple, well-rehearsed language with confidence. You should be able to write short stories about your field of interest without any problems. Some job-related skills, such as presenting a topic, should also be already mastered.
Course structure & Our methodology
The aim of the B2 course is to enable you to speak fluently, clearly and coherently, to exchange arguments in a discussion, to respond to your interlocutor and to arrive at a fruitful discourse. For this purpose, sentence patterns, standardised expressions and means of speech are practised. You will be able to ask specific questions and express your own thoughts competently. Working in groups and with partners, topics will be worked on together and the learners will be able to speak actively. The work with word fields and word networks is important in order to constantly expand the vocabulary. At the end of the course, participants are able to use a wide range of expressions, but are also able to produce detailed and complex as well as spontaneous utterances. By constantly repeating what you have learned and linking to new content, you consolidate and expand your language skills.
Language level at the end of the course
Our educational institution complies with the optional descriptions of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. After successful completion of this course, you will be able to extract the main content and the most important points from complex and abstract texts. You will also be able to understand technical discussions in your own field of interest and communicate with native speakers easily, spontaneously and fluently. You can also express yourself concretely on a wide range of subjects and explain the pros and cons of current issues and express your own point of view.
Textually, you can write detailed, well-structured texts, including fictional events. You are familiar with various text genres and can follow the conventions in force. In addition, you can write a report and systematically classify and hierarchize various points. In addition, you can already follow an easily understandable lecture and write down your own notes independently and correctly and use them later for a text. You already know the grammar very well, only a few mistakes will happen, especially with irregular structures and you can already vary some formulations independently and logically due to your large vocabulary. In addition, you are also able to use linking elements in a meaningful way, thus enhancing your linguistic style.
At the end of the course you will be able to communicate effectively in your job, to pass on information correctly, even if the content is only somewhat familiar. You will be able to continue to work on your language skills independently and will be sufficiently prepared to pass the exams listed below.
Your vocabulary is about 2500 words.
Final Examination & Certificate
At the end of the course you will write an internal examination of the language school, which is based on the examinations of the Goethe-Institut. You will also write a short test every week to check your language level. This way we ensure that you will pass the final exam. These are included in the course fees.
You also have the option of taking a telc Deutsch B2/ Zertifikat Deutsch B2 exam, which is subject to additional costs. You can find more information about the telc examinations on our homepage.

We believe that learning a language is not only about acquiring vocabulary and grammatical knowledge, but that learning a language always means immersion in the respective culture. For this reason, we place great emphasis on teaching our language students not only the necessary language skills, but also the German culture. With this in mind, we encourage encounters with the local population and are therefore happy to provide information about language cafés, ( sports ) clubs, etc. and organise trips on request.
Especially as a language school in a city like Duisburg with its high percentage of migrants, we feel obliged to support our language students in thinking and acting in a cosmopolitan, culturally open-minded and solidary way. The focus should not only be on the language deficits of the participants, but also on the different lifeworlds of people from different migration backgrounds, which should be perceived by all participants as equal and with the same appreciation.
Our teachers and secretarial staff therefore see themselves not only as language mediators but also as "bridge builders" between people of different cultures.
