Labeling - The school of Italian in Sicily - was founded in 1994 and it is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education. The school is open for the whole year. Language courses are also addressed to foreigners residing in Italy. Moreover, we can arrange groups or private tuition. Our main premises are in Milazzo, but we also organize courses in the Aeolian Islands and on board a sailboat.
The school is in Milazzo, Sicily, in the old town not far away from the port for the Aeolian Islands and from the Cathedral. Our classrooms are well-lit and equipped with air conditioning. Our students can use the school internet point for free.
Course levels and contents comply with the standards set by the Council of Europe and the Common European Framework for Languages. The Italian language courses are divided into six different levels: A1 - A2, B1 - B2 and C1 - C2.
At Labeling, it is possible to sit the CILS (Certificazione di Italiano come Lingua Straniera) exam, due to an agreement with Università per Stranieri di Siena. Besides standard group classes, you can attend specific preparation classes for the CILS exam.
Accommodation for the students is directly selected by the school. There are different possibilities according to the students' needs. Although flats, houses, and hotels are located in the town centre or close to it, they are all in very quiet neighborhoods a few minutes walk from the school.
Milazzo is located at the beginning of a long peninsula stretching from the mainland towards the Aeolian Islands. The town is dominated by the ancient Castle and it is surrounded by the sea.
The western beach is very long with a view of the islands of Alicudi, Filicudi, Salina, Lipari, and Vulcano. The sunsets you can admire from here are simply unique and unforgettable.
Leaving the port with its hectic pace, there is the town hall built in neoclassical style, here the rhythm slows down on a human scale. The fish market, close to the old town centre, transports visitors to the old lifestyle of fishermen. From here you can walk to the shops, the beaches, and the pubs, bars, and discos.
Milazzo has always been a favorite holiday place for Italians and you can experience the true Italian lifestyle.
There are various ways to spend your free time in Milazzo and the Aeolian Islands.
Moreover, students can join the school program of leisure activities, trips and other cultural or entertainment initiatives organized during the week and at weekends.

Milazzo is located right in front of the beautiful Eolian Islands. City life here is truly Italian, as Milazzo is far away from mass tourism. Though, this is the ideal location to easily reach all touristic and historical sites in Sicily.
Adventurous, I didn't live directly in Milazzo, but in Torregrotta. There was the option of taking the bus or train. The whole staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a good time and was able to learn the basics of the Italian language.

I had to arrive on a sciopero day but Sonjia and Rosalba were waiting for my arrival until the last minute, I had the most delicious arancino and pittone for dinner in my life and all thanks to them. In the classes Francesco was extremely brave as a teacher and the activities of the 50+ plan were incredible, lunches and dinners in chosen restaurants to enjoy Sicilian gastronomy, good wine, we visited unique places such as MESSINA, CASTELLO DI MILAZZO, TINDARI, by private bus and then an aperitif with the group. Everything was spectacular. I recommend living this experience with a sea environment, Aeolian Island, nice people, good food and an incredible human group.

Nothing was explained to us about what to expect over the next two weeks. I did not realise there would be NO English spoken. Our first two days were a waste of time as we didn’t understand a word. In the 3rd day the lively Mery, introduced herself as our new teacher. We went back to a beginner level and I was so relieved. Even with no English spoken I felt I was learning. Sonya in the office was wonderful, the only person who would explain to us in English what was on offer she also hrlped with our forward travel and weekend activities, we attended everything that was offered, but being a beginner with all other students quite advanced , it was almost impossible for me to follow any conversations. We were not able to stay in the accommodation provided but booked a lovely Abnb only a few minutes walk. Milazzo is a delightful place, very quiet and we loved being amongst the locals. I would use Laboling again, I would present myself as a beginner and I would stay longer, I was just feeling comfortable and Like I was progressing and our two weeks were up.

In my group there happened to be only two pupils, so we received almost private teaching. I was allowed to express myself in italian a lot.
Milazzo is a beautiful small and safe town on the seashore opposite to Calabria. The facilities of the school were ok. The school offered free-time activities in the afternoon, in which I did not participate. I lived in a hotel outside the school.
