Mentor Language Institute is pleased to announce our new Hollywood campus. The campus is located just 2 minutes from the Hollywood/Highland subway station. The Hollywood / Highland complex (site of the Kodak Theater and Academy Awards) is a major tourist attraction. MLI students can study English as wells as dance, music, acting and art in the heart of the entertainment capital. Within walking distance of the famous Chinese Theater and walk of fame, MLI’s Hollywood campus is surrounded by popular theaters, fashionable restaurants, designer shops and clubs. We are sure that students will find inspiration for improving their English while enjoying the glitz and glamour of Hollywood!
I really liked my school. Teachers were warm and positive. They let me speak a lot and I felt it was easier to speak in the classroom much more than other places. So I got more confident and willing to ask questions. They answered my questions a lot and I was so pleased. Also my classmates were so nice to me and they helped me a lot. I really liked to talk
with them. In addition, the staff members were so kind and helpful. I can't thank them enough. I'd love to come back there next time. Thank you for all of your support.
At MLI I took Business English and TOIC and both classes were very good. The teachers - Alison (TOIC) and BEN (Business English) were really nice, with great sense of humor. I really liked their professionalism but also easy-going attitude! There was always a lot of fun and laughter in the classes. I liked the classes a lot as they were very interactive. It was not just about learning grammar and vocabulary but there was also a great focus on conversations, discussions, scenarios and role playing. These helped me to improve my speaking skills and also to overcome my fear of speaking in front of other people. There were also many international students in my class which I found very essential. As we all were from different countries, we all were forced to speak English only! And that helped me to improve my speaking very quickly.
The location of Hollywood Campus is very convenient as it is located directly at Hollywood & Highland and it is about two minute walk to the subway station and bus stop and from there, there is a good access to any area in Los Angeles.
During my first week I was staying at North Hollywood Dormitory and I was not satisfied with the accommodation and the area I was staying in so I asked the staff at MLI for a change. And the study coordinator (Juliana) was really great. She understood and helped me to change the accommodation very quickly. In less than a week I moved into the West Hollywood Dormitory. I liked the area, the house and my room (clean and big). The dormitory manager - Oussema - was really nice and always helpful, keeping the house clean. He was trying to talk to us every day, offering us any help we would need. I appreciate it a lot!
What I did not like was that if you decided to change the accommodation there was no possibility from USSS for refund!
I am very thankful for this school. I feel more confident with my English than when I had just arrived. The teachers are very attentive to each student and were free for questions. They have individual approaches and made the lessons awesome. Also, I'd like to point out that the front desk was very nice. They were always ready to help you!

Thank you so much for your kind words about our school. We are glad to hear that the teachers, the programs and the staff have been helping you to build up your confidence in English! On behalf of the school I will assure you that we will keep doing our best to make sure you continue improving.
Sincerely,
Miles Scoggins
Location - It was in a good place in Hollywood.
Classes - I went to Intermediate 1 and I think that there were too much students.
Teachers - The teachers were great. They were very funny, and it was an interactive class.
Activities - I liked the Wednesday afternoon activities.
In spite of my course only lasting two weeks, I would say it was a amazing experience in my life. I usually travel to the USA and I hadn't had the opportunity to improve my English as expected, so I took this opportunity to travel and study English at the same time. I took the TOEFL preparatory course and the classes were fantastic. Our teacher, Mercedes Carter, had a huge capacity to teach foreigners, and I'm pretty sure that her tips will be very useful. In the same way, the school's facilities were great, as well as its location in the Hollywood Boulevard.
In summary, I would recommend this for all who hope to study the English language in the USA, and to be honest, I have nothing to disqualify this school. I only would like to make a special mention to Miles Scoggins, to Maisa, and to Alexis, who were all fantastic and gave me all the necessary support.
I didn't use the housing service provided by MLI, but my overall experience was great. Miles, Maisa and Jerry from the staff team were always kind and prompt to help. My teacher, Mercedes, is excellent and very professional.

Grace and Mark were the best teachers in my opinion. They not only gave good classes, but they also realized your problems with the language, and worked on them. As a Brazilian student, pronunciation and grammar were big deals and they helped me a lot.
I guess my only problem was about the books. The school must incentivize the reuse of them, even if you didn´t buy them. I only wanted to keep my grammar book, but I couldn´t sell the others because the weren´t in use anymore.
About housing, I suggest mixing better the students from the same country. I don´t think it's worth it if almost all of those who live together have the same nationality. Also, as an English School, it would be better if the school could stimulate students to share experiences and cultures.
Well, I had an amazing experience at Mentor and if I needed to say something about everything, it would be “THANK YOU”. I just loved my teachers. My house was in an excellent location and the school gave all the support that I needed. My English was improved and my knowledge increased. Thank you so much! Hope to be back soon!
Love, R.
P.S.
Grace and Tim: Best Teachers
Maisa and Jerry: Best Managers
It was a very good experience. The classes were good, but the teachers have to give more activities. The location was also very good.

The reception people are lovely. Miles and Maisa always helped me. Studying in MLI gave me a great base for the English language; I went to Los Angeles without knowledge of the language.

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
If you are studying full time in the United States for more than 18 hours per week, you will receive an I-20 that you need to submit to the US embassy along with your F-1 student visa application. The I-20 has a SEVIS tracking number on it. Students who wish to apply for a student visa must pay the SEVIS fee online before going to the US embassy or consulate for their visa interview.
Your I-20 will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
Please note that United States law states that an I-20 can only be issued to students who intend to pursue full-time English language studies. United States law does not permit students to study part-time with an F-1 Student Visa. If you are studying for less than 18 hours per week, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.
Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to Los Angeles based on your budget, schedule and preferences.
